Weston’s bi-annual “Cemetery Stroll Into the Past” will be presented by WCT Saturday, April 26 from 4-7pm. The stroll is held in the old Laurel Hill Cemetery, founded in 1840 and located at 801 Welt St. between Walnut and Hwy. 45 in Weston, Missouri.
Come be entertained by actors dressed in period costumes as they portray some of Weston’s more colorful former residents and share graveside tales from the early days of Weston. There will also be an assortment of live music swirling around the old tombstones for your enjoyment. “It’s the perfect way to create performance opportunities for our actors and at the same time share the rich history that made Weston one of the most interesting towns in Missouri” commented event chair, Kirk Nelson. The WCT is also honored to be included as one of the many events connected with the Platte County 175th Anniversary celebration.
Admission and parking are FREE to the public, but donations are graciously accepted with proceeds benefiting our summer musical production of “Fiddler on the Roof” and our scholarship program. This is a walking event (hence the word “stroll”), so remember to wear comfortable shoes.
Print the Cemetery Stroll poster and share with your friends! For more information, call the Stroll Chair Kirk Nelson at 816-640-2788. You can also visit the Platte County Parks and Rec. website for additional 175th Anniversary events.
